The WIPO-WTO Colloquium for Teachers of Intellectual Property 2026 is a high-level educational program organized jointly by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Trade Organization. This initiative is designed specifically for university professors and lecturers from developing countries and economies in transition. The program provides a platform to discuss current issues in intellectual property (IP) law and policy, focusing on how IP impacts international trade and public health. For Nigerian and African educators, this is a vital opportunity to align their curriculum with international standards and engage with global IP experts.

To be eligible for this colloquium, candidates must fulfill the following:

  • Applicants must be currently employed as teachers of intellectual property law or related subjects at a recognized university or higher education institution.
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience in the field of intellectual property is typically required.
  • Applicants must hold an advanced degree in law, economics, or a closely related field.
  • Proof of proficiency in English is required, as the colloquium is conducted entirely in English.
  • The program prioritizes applicants from developing countries to foster academic growth in the Global South.
