The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is a high-level partnership between the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Clore Leadership. This fellowship is meticulously designed for mid-career professionals in the arts and culture sector who demonstrate significant potential to shape the future of their industry. For professionals from South Africa and Egypt, this program offers a fully funded, individually tailored leadership journey in the United Kingdom, combining academic rigor with practical sector experience.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be citizens of South Africa or Egypt (among other specific partner countries).
  • Candidates must hold a degree equivalent to a UK second-class honors degree or have extensive professional experience.
  • A minimum of seven years of leadership or change-making experience in the arts, culture, or heritage sector is required.
  • Applicants must have a good working knowledge of English.
  • Candidates must intend to return to their home country at the end of the fellowship period.
  • Employees of the British Government or its associated agencies within the last two years are ineligible.

Benefits

  • Full coverage of two residential leadership courses in the UK.
  • Round-trip international economy flights from the home country to the UK.
  • Accommodation and living expenses provided during the UK stay.
  • A development budget of up to £4,000 for self-directed learning and professional visits.
  • A professional secondment in a UK cultural organization for 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Personal mentoring and access to a 360-degree leadership profile assessment.

Application Steps

  1. Visit the Chevening website and select the Clore Leadership Fellowship track.
  2. Complete the online application, ensuring your leadership philosophy and impact are well-articulated.
  3. Submit a comprehensive professional CV and proof of your academic or professional training.
  4. Provide the contact details for two referees who can vouch for your leadership potential.
  5. If shortlisted, participate in the interview process conducted by the British Embassy and Clore Leadership.

  • The Stage 1 application deadline is February 5, 2026.
