Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 Mo Ibrahim Foundation SOAS University of London Scholarships, a prestigious opportunity for outstanding international students committed to Africa’s development and leadership.
The scholarship is funded by Mo Ibrahim Foundation in partnership with SOAS University of London. The programme is designed to support future African leaders pursuing postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
Founded by Mo Ibrahim, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation focuses on strengthening governance, leadership, and sustainable development across Africa.
About the Scholarship
The scholarship provides financial support for students enrolling in eligible full-time one-year taught master’s degree programmes at SOAS University of London for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Two scholarships will be awarded for the 2026/27 academic year.
Each scholarship has a total value of £45,479, which includes:
- Full tuition fee coverage
- Maintenance stipend paid directly to the student after tuition deductions
The scholarship aims to help talented students access quality education while developing leadership skills that can contribute to Africa’s progress.
Eligible Programmes
The scholarship is open to applicants pursuing:
- Any full-time one-year taught Master’s degree programme beginning in 2026/27 at SOAS University of London
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a new student starting their programme in September 2026
- Qualify for Overseas fee status
- Hold at least a Second Class Upper (2:1) bachelor’s degree or international equivalent
- Receive an unconditional offer for their chosen programme before the scholarship panel review
Please note that the scholarship does not cover pre-sessional courses or additional preparatory programmes.
