Africa Foundation has opened applications for the Learn Africa Program 2026–2027, a major scholarship initiative designed to expand access to higher education for African women.

The program offers more than 100 scholarships across a wide range of academic disciplines and continues to strengthen the role of women as drivers of development across Africa.

Since its inception, the initiative has supported hundreds of beneficiaries through academic training, research opportunities, and leadership development.

Program Scope and Academic Opportunities

The 2026–2027 edition includes expanded opportunities across multiple fields of study, with a growing emphasis on strategic sectors such as:

  • Health and paramedical sciences
  • New technologies and digital innovation
  • Social sciences and development
  • Hispanic studies

Available study levels include:

  • Master’s degree programmes
  • Doctoral (PhD) studies
  • Research fellowships

Partner Institutions

The program collaborates with leading academic institutions, including:

  • EADA Business School
  • Planeta Formación y Universidades
  • FUNIBER
  • European University of the Atlantic
  • Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Seville

These partnerships provide access to internationally recognized academic programmes and diverse learning formats.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a woman with nationality and residence in an African country
  • Hold or be enrolled in a university degree from an African institution
  • Meet the specific requirements of the selected scholarship
  • Submit only one application

Additional requirements may include language proficiency and programme-specific qualifications.

  • Deadline: 19 April 2026
  • Time: 23:59 (Madrid time)

Applications must be submitted through the official online platform. Some programmes may extend deadlines if applications are insufficient.

Applicants are required to upload the following documents:

  • Passport or national identification
  • Passport-sized photograph
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Academic certificates and transcripts
  • Cover or motivation letter
  • Recommendation letter(s)

Accepted formats include PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, PNG, PPT, and RTF, with a maximum file size of 4MB per document.
