The UNICEF Startup Lab Accelerator Programme 2026 is an initiative focused on supporting young Ghanaian and African social impact startups. The program is designed to scale businesses that provide digital solutions for children and youth in areas such as education, health, and child protection. Based in Accra, Ghana, the accelerator provides tech-enabled startups with the tools and mentorship needed to create sustainable social impact. It is a vital bridge for young entrepreneurs looking to integrate their solutions into the UNICEF ecosystem.

Eligibility

Startups must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • The startup must be registered and operating in Ghana or within the West African region.
  • The solution must address a challenge related to children or youth (e.g., EdTech, HealthTech).
  • The startup should have a working prototype or a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
  • Founders must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Willingness to participate in a multi-month intensive coaching and scaling program.

Selected startups receive the following support:

  • Direct access to UNICEF technical experts and programmatic specialists.
  • Intensive business coaching and technology mentoring from industry leaders.
  • Opportunities for networking with potential investors and global partners.
  • Potential to pilot the solution within UNICEF-supported projects.
  • Recognition as a UNICEF Startup Lab alumnus, providing significant brand credibility.

Application Steps

To apply for the 2026 accelerator cohort:

  • Visit the UNICEF Startup Lab website to access the application link.
  • Complete the online questionnaire regarding your team and business model.
  • Upload a pitch deck or video demonstration of your product.
  • Detail how your solution specifically benefits children and youth.
  • Submit your application before the annual deadline.

Deadlines

  • Application Deadline: March 20, 2026.
  • Programme Commencement: May 2026.
